The Ebonyi State Government is facing growing public scrutiny following the continued absence of the aircraft promised under its proposed Ebonyi Air initiative, six months after Governor Francis Nwifuru announced that the state had acquired aircraft to launch a commercial airline.

The controversy has intensified amid allegations circulating on social media and in political circles regarding the reported cost of the project and the status of funds allegedly linked to the airline initiative. As of the time of publication, however, no official evidence has been presented publicly to confirm the allegations that public funds were lost, and the state government has not issued a detailed response addressing the claims.

During his 2026 New Year address, Governor Francis Nwifuru announced that Ebonyi State had procured aircraft under the Ebonyi Air initiative.
